Today's topic for 5 Minute Fridays at The Gypsy Mama is Community.
Begin Now.
I have a group of friends who are always there, and occasionally I get to add a new one to the group. One I met when I was in the 7th grade. We were always an unlikely pair. But, I love her dearly, miss her, and ever few years, I get to see her again, and it is always like we were never apart.
I have another friend, who I became friends with, in spite of a spat over a boy, many years before. She lives in my hometown, and I always call her when I go home. We started our heart-attachment when I was 16.
I have another friend who was my prom date my junior year. I had a boyfriend who didn't feel compelled to take me to the prom...but that is another story. I don't remember a lot about that night, only that she and I went together. She was a year older than me, and when she graduated that year from high school, it left a hole. I got to see her last year when I went home for a visit.
I have another friend who I added to that place in my heart when I was in college. She and I had know each other since elementary school, but never made that connection until we were adults. She inspires me with her bravery and motherly skills.
I have added more friends along the way. I met a girl when I moved away from my home state and when we met it was instant connection, like we had known each other all our lives. She is always there for me and I know she always will be.
I occasionally add one of those wonderful heart friends along the way, a new teacher friend, a military wife, but it seems like they are getting fewer and farther between with age. I love you girls and am grateful GOD put you in my life.
After the five minutes....
P.S. I forget to mention the first friend I made when I moved out on my own. I have only gotten to spend a few minutes with her in the last fifteen years, but she is always there. I also thought of a friend from camp after I wrote this post.
