God's Will To Heal

Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.- 3 John 2


It is always God’s Will for you to be healed. There is not one place in the Bible where it says that Jesus ever told anybody that it was not His will for them to be healed. One of the names of God is Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord who heals you. There are numerous scriptures where God says it IS His will for you to be healed.


I was about twelve years old when I first heard about this. We went to a church that believed in divine healing. I remember being at school and I would call my mom and tell her I was sick. She would say to me, “No you are not. You are healed.” Now I thought she was crazy. I was sick. I felt sick. I looked sick. And I wanted to go home. I didn’t know enough, not yet. (By the way, neither did my mom, or she wouldn't have kept telling a twelve-year-old who didnt understand she was healed.)


There were times when she would pray for me and nothing would happen. I was still as sick after she prayed or I prayed as I was before. This hindered my faith and my walk with God in a big way, even into adulthood. But thank God that he doesn’t give up on us when we don’t understand.


I had problems with believing that it was God’s will for everyone to always be well into my adulthood. I didn’t understand. So, what does this have to do with continuing in His Word you might ask? Well, let me tell you one more story, and I will get to that.


When I went to Bible school, I heard one of my instructors say to us that he always use to get the flu. Every year he just expected to get the flu. Well, after he had been walking with God for some time, he started to get some light in the area of healing, and the sickness became less and less frequent, until finally he didn’t get the flu anymore.


You might be like this man, or you might be like I was and think that it is impossible to be healed based on God’s Word. But consider this; maybe you just don’t know enough yet. The Bible says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word about Christ.” Maybe you haven’t heard enough to make a decision that God always wants you healed. Maybe you have not heard enough to receive that healing from Him. Let me help you with that. Remember, if you continue in His Word, you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.


Do I believe in healing now? Absolutely. 100%. Do I believe it is God’s will for you to be healed? YES!


Psalm 107:20 says, 

He sent His Word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.
