Five Minute Friday: World

Today I am participating in Five Minute Friday, where a group of writers get together and write about a one word prompt for 5 minutes.  Today's word is  "world."

Go Ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. That’s the first sentence that came to mind when I saw the prompt for today, “world.”

I just cannot stop thinking about or talking about Jesus. My life is different because I know Him. And I am still getting to know Him more and more and more.

You just can’t know a person from one meeting. In the natural, as humans, that would be ridiculous for us to even think we can get to know a person by just one meeting. I have been married for 16 years, and I am still getting to know my husband.

And people, humans change. The good thing about Jesus is that he does not. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So, his character, and personality, and actions, they are unchanging. What He has done once He will always do. What He has said once, He will always say. There is comfort in that for me.

So, I want to tell the world about Him. And if you really know Him, you will want to also. I think New Believers often face this pressure to tell people about Jesus, when they don’t really know Him. They know what happened to them. They know that they are different. But they don’t know Him completely yet.

When Jesus told His disciples to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature, that they were loved, forgiven, and completely whole and perfect in Him, they had known Him for 3 years. They knew about His earthly ministry, and they knew about his character, and they knew about the resurrection. They knew Him.

We can all tell the world about Jesus. But it is so much easier, and full of love and joy, when we truly know Him. The real Him.

    1. Thank you Jennifer! I hope you find something encouraging. I am so comforted by the fact Jesus is always the same, and he treats me the same way he treated others in the scriptures.

  2. Love the post, and you inspired a sonnet. Hope you like it.

The fact that Jesus changes not,
a constant in the raging gyre,
is sole hope for a polyglot
world, and it doth me inspire.
He strides along on steady feet,
down the ages from the Cross,
and bids me fair, to rise and meet
His heart, without count of cost.
    This Brotherhood, yea, is severe,
and my life may well be taken,
but His Smile makes full clear
that never shall I be forsaken.
    Together across this deadly land
I walk with Him, hand in Hand.
