Continue In His Word

“So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, ‘If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.’ ” -John 8:31-32(New American Standard Bible)

Our walk with God is sometimes a progression of things. Many people think that if God has heard my prayer the results will always be instant, but Jesus tells us that is not so. Jesus said what will make us free is continuing in His Word. This requires a conscious effort on our part. We have to make the choice that we will continue to do the Word of God. And the results are sometimes so subtle that it is may not be readily seen by the naked human eye. But it is producing results when we do it, say it, and believe it. When we cannot see anything happening yet, this is where faith comes in. We must have faith that God’s Word is so and is producing results when we believe it, speak it, and do it. The things in the supernatural realm are much greater and more real than what we can see. What we can see is subject to change. God’s Word is not. Today I encourage you to keep going. Keep pressing on in God’s Word, in faith. If you don’t see what you are believing for, don’t quit. Don’t give up. Continue on. You faith might just need to grow. And if you don’t know what to believe for, or what God’s Word says on a subject or situation, spend time with Him in His Word today. You won’t be disappointed.

*Note: When a person is saved or born again, that is an instant event. Jesus said in John 3:3, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." Romans 10:13 says, "for WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

  1. great word Beth. It is easy to forget that you must continue to be in his Word and doing what he says. It so easy to complain, after we pray and don't see things happen instantly. Wow Good Word. Love too that you added the part about salvation being instant.
